Yesterday, Vinton Unlimited hosted an Open Coffee event as part of “Creative Week” in the Creative Corridor. Creative Coffee is an opportunity for citizens in a community to get together to discuss topics that can help develop their respective entrepreneurial communities. An open forum to discuss innovation, entrepreneurship, tech, start-ups, job markets, diversity, education, economic development, and so on...the discussion is created by those that attend! We had over 25 people join us for Benton County’s 1st Open Coffee event at the 5th Street Koffee Haus in Vinton and it was a great time to meet and discuss issues facing our local business community.

The discussion is created by those who attend so it can change each time a group gets together. Yesterday, the topic of discussion started by talking about the challenges facing local businesses who need to hire a quality and qualified workforce in Vinton & Benton County. Those who attended had the opportunity to share their ideas and discuss what we as a community can be working on both in the way we teach our young people and through the organizations and clubs with which they belong.

Our next Open Coffee event will take place on Wednesday, November 6th from 8-9 am. We will have another opportunity to come together as a community and county to discuss what is on your mind. The intent is to create and inspire ingenuity, ideas, thoughts, desires, and network with others to discuss solutions to problems we may face in business and community. Everyone is welcome and invited to join us. You can follow the Creative Corridor – Benton County Facebook page to stay in touch with what’s happening in the Creative Corridor.
