Business : BDG Board introduces new Director, tours Thys Automotive

The Benton Development Group Board of Directors met Wednesday, July 30, 2014 in Blairstown, in the Community Room. The meeting was attended by over twenty board and community members.

Emily Upah was introduced at the new Director for BDG. Upah has already been attending meetings to build relationships and has been working with board members to initiate different projects. She will start making visits to all of the communities in Benton County to attend council meetings and talk with area businesses. Upah will be holding office hours from 9am-12pm Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays.

The board had a large discussion on the rebranding efforts of the marketing committee. The website is nearing the end of its update and should be ready for public viewing very soon. Information about the communities, a calendar of events and meeting minutes will all be available on the new site. There will also be a link to the blog Upah will be creating.

The board was also given the opportunity to tour the newly opened Thys automotive building in Blairstown. The tour was led by Joel Thys. Individuals on the tour we able to engage in some really great conversations with Thys. It was a great opportunity to speak with one of the many individuals investing in Benton County.

BDG meetings are held on the last Wednesday of every month at 7:00pm. Our next meeting will be held on August 27th, at the City Hall in Urbana. The public is welcome to BDG meetings and community involvement is encouraged.
