Lisa Marter has been a member at Kettlebell Advantage for over 3 years and became one of the instructors there after she became HKC Kettlebell Certified in 2012. This past June she stepped down from Instructing as her and her husband Eric awaited their first baby due in August.
Daxon Anderson Marter was born on Sunday July 27th in Iowa City. Baby Dax is doing well but was born with a heart condition called Coarctation of the Aorta and required surgery to repair his heart.
Knowing they would be presented with additional expenses, Mark Erickson reached out to all of Lisa's friends at Kettlebell Advantage with an opportunity to help. They responded very generously.
This week, Mark sent the following message to his Kettlebell participants:
No written message can do justice to what a small group of people came together and did in about 48 hours.
Sarah and I got to spend about three hours with Lisa, Eric and Dax recently in Iowa City. Lisa and Eric are very strong parents and Dax is adorable! More important than anything please continue to keep them all in your thoughts and prayers over these next few days leading up to his heart surgery on Wednesday.
We also had the privilege to represent all of you at Kettlebell Advantage who gave so generously by leaving behind a gift from all of you – a check for $4,500. Please understand we don't share this with you for any other reason than to show how you have made a difference in someone's life.
Needless to say Lisa and Eric were extremely thankful and surprised.
Knowing you have a community of people behind you helps in times like these.
Mark said a total of 60 participants made donations ranging from $10 to $1,000 to help the Marters.
A fund-raising bake sale/car wash has been scheduled for this Saturday, August 16 from 11 am to 2 pm at Rosters shop at 410 H Avenue in Vinton. (Near railroad tracks on west 4th street).
