4th STREET DINER NEWS 4th Street Diner HACAP North Benton Center 202 East Fourth St Vinton, IA 52349 319-472-4761 Serving Buffet from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. A choice of salads are available Monday – Friday on site. Everyone is WELCOME! Suggested contribution for individuals 60 years old or older, and their spouse (regardless of age) is $3.25 for the meal. Individuals who are not yet 60 are WELCOME but need to pay $4.25 for their meal. If you are just coming for the activity, the suggested contribution is $1.00. Carryout meals are available. We deliver meals to Vinton, Newhall, Urbana, and Garrison/Mt Auburn. The suggested contribution is $3.50/meal if you are 60 or older. For those under age 60, the suggested contribution is $4.25 for home delivered meals. We also have nutritious frozen meals and liquid supplements. Delivery is throughout Benton County. Please call by 10:00 AM daily to cancel a Home Delivered Meal. For more information about services, please call 319-472-4761, or to reserve a table for groups of three or more. Please help us recruit more people to join the 4th St Diner Meal program. All contributions are used toward the continued operations of the meal site. Each month the 4th St Diner has a special day set aside to celebrate birthdays for that month. It is always scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month. Anyone having a birthday for that particular month is encouraged to make a reservation for themselves and any guests they would like to celebrate with. The names of all birthday celebrants who have made a reservation for the Birthday Table are entered into the door prize drawing. We currently have two door prizes scheduled for each month. The first is $5 in Vinton Unlimited Value Dollars generously donated by Vinton Unlimited. The second is a gift certificate for a free 4th Street Diner meal. Reservations for the Birthday Dinner table can be made by calling 472-4761. Reservations need to be made by 10:00 AM on the day of the celebration. FREE SOFT SERVE ICE CREAM AVAILABLE DAILY FOR EVERYONE WHO EATS A MEAL AT THE SITE DURING MEAL SERVICE TIMES. The 4th Street Diner meal on Sunday, September 7th will be Roast Pork, Parslied Potatoes, Broccoli/Cheese Sauce, Mixed Green Salad, Peach Crisp, WW Bread, Milk. On Monday, June 30th, games of pepper cards were played. Don Selken won 1st place with 234 points. Hazel Eastwood won 2nd place with 233 points. After the games, refreshments were served by the card club. HACAP provided the beverages. On Tuesday, July 1st, the afternoon activity was Surprise Bingo. Amanda was the volunteer caller. Evelyn Greenwood handpicked the games. Game one was a 9-Pack with Elsie Knaack winning popcorn. Game two was Wild Number Three Bingos with Geri Shaffer winning popcorn. Game three was Postage Stamps with Ruth Wieditz winning a meal ticket. Game four was Stair Steps with Marion Isbell winning popcorn. Hazel Eastwood won popcorn on game five with Blackout. On Monday, July 7th, there were four tables of Pepper Cards. Leroy Wieser won first place with 304 points. Second place went to Bernadine Barr with 282 points. Don Selken won third place with 267 points. After the games, refreshments were served by the card club. HACAP provided the beverages. On Tuesday, July 8th, all the July birthdays were celebrated. Those honored with July birthdays were Carol Porter, Sylvia Merchant, Roger Weltzin, and Jessie McCaslin. Roger was the door prize winner of the free meal. The afternoon musical entertainment was provided by Stuart Gulick Music. On Wednesday, July 9th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Wendy Pennington was the volunteer caller. Norma Ellis handpicked the games. Game one was a 9-Pack with Ruth Wieditz winning. Game two was Wild Card Three Bingos with Geri Shaffer winning. Game three was Four Postage Stamps with Hazel Eastwood winning. Game four was Four Corners Frame the Free Spot with Geri Shaffer winning. Oma Eckhart won game five with Blackout. On Thursday, July 10th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Vickie Holst was the volunteer caller. Ruth Wieditz handpicked the games. Game one was a 12-Pack with JoAnn Roster as the winner. Game two was the Letter “Z” with JoAnn Roster winning. Game three was Wild Number Three Bingos with Norma Ellis winning. Game four was Frame the Card with Norma Ellis as the winner. Ruth Wieditz and Norma Ellis won game five with Blackout. On Friday, July 11th, there were 5 tables of 500 cards played. Leroy Wieser won 1st place with 3,450 points. Wilma Loutsch won 2nd place with 3,260 points. Milo Cobb won 3rd place with 2,690 points. After the games, refreshments were provided by the Card Club. HACAP provided the beverages.
