About the new Market Place

Rick Primmer shares the following information about the new business:

What is rather unique to our Market Place is the fact that we offer 4 different types of display areas for our venders. 1st off is the normal grass area location, where the vender can set up their display areas outside and use a tent or awning to display or protect their items from the elements such as the summer sun. 2nd we offer a warehouse space for rent which protects the vender and their customers for the harsh rays of the sun or the occasional summer rain, with the over head doors and windows open to allow the breeze to flow through it is a much nicer environment then being set up outside. Electricity is also inside the warehouse for the venders that require table lamps or floor lamps for display, or to run a fan when Mother Nature stops providing a breeze. The 3rd type of space available is rather "cutting edge" to the flea market industry, and that is our mini storage area is available for venders that wish to have everything under cover, placed on shelving for a more "permanent" type of displaying of their wares. Once they have their display area is set up, they need just to open the door at the beginning of day and at the end of the day simply close the door put the lock on and go home for the night. We have installed electricity inside the units to provide lighting and an outlet to run a fan to keep air circulating inside the unit or for use with the venders displayed items. This is an area that we can see great potential for, when we are not having a market, the vender is able to pack up their items and attend other events, and at the conclusion of that event bring their items back to the unit to set up and be ready to go for our next event date. And at the end of the season if the vender wishes to leave everything in the storage unit we simply charge a normal mini storage fee until next season. The 4th area is the consignment area for the venders to sell their items. Pamela has been working hard setting up a 1200 squire foot display area to be opened up year round. Venders can contract with Pamela to leave items in the display area to be sold. This has been very successful in many locations and we feel with just a little time and effort Urbana is a great location for this. With the ease of the interstate also known as the Avenue of the Saints, we are centrally located between Cedar Rapids, and Waterloo, with many smaller communities such as Vinton, Center Point, Independence, Manchester, Monticello and many many more throughout Eastern Iowa to draw from. We know that we will pull people from all over the mid-west not only as venders but as customers as well. We have also been in contact with local food venders to provide fresh grilled or freshly prepared meals for our venders and customers. At our last event the American Legion was present grilling up hamburgers, brat patties and hot dogs. So as you can see Pamela and I are very excited about her new business venture, and feel that this is a great addition to Benton County. It will take time to grow, but given the history of Flea Markets and the diversification of our Market Place plus our location we should see some excellent growth happening. Thank you once again for giving me a chance to tell you of our new adventure and the excitement of bringing new business to Benton County.

JS August 18, 2015, 11:06 am Last summer when I was at a flea market in Florida, I thought how neat it would be if we had one close to home, so I\'d say Urbana is a perfect location. Will look forward to visiting!
