Amanda Mosley was born in on an Army base in Wurzburg, Germany. Claiming Iowa native status, she went to Kindergarten through second grade in Central City, Iowa and then completed the rest of her education in a small rural town in west-central Illinois known as Dallas City.
After graduating with a Bachelor in English Literature, she joined the AmeriCorps NCCC program and served as a Class 14 Corps Member in Sacramento, California. She served a second year with NCCC as a Team Leader right here in Vinton, Iowa during Class 15. After two years in NCCC, she moved to Iowa City and took a job working with Four Oaks as a Youth Counselor in a shelter for homeless youth. After working at the shelter for a little over a year she moved to part-time so she could take a full- time job as a Para educator with the Iowa City Community School District in an Elementary Autism Classroom.
Never having lost her love for the NCCC program, she was lucky enough to be hired as the new Member Support Specialist in January 2012. Working for the NCCC has been a dream of hers since starting the program as a Corps Member in 2007. She remembers what it was like to be a Corps Member and Team Leader, and how supportive the NCCC staff were to her. She is excited about the opportunity to be a part of the staff at the Vinton campus and to be able to support Corps Members and Team Leaders.
