ACT I Auditioning for "Lost in Yonkers"

ACT I announces auditions for the play Lost in Yonkers by Neil Simon. The following actors are needed: One woman to play a character age 70’s to 80’s Two women and two men to play characters ages 30s to 40s Two boys, one almost 13, the other almost 16. This play is a comic drama about a dysfunctional family of adults, set in Yonkers, New York during World War II.

Union Carolers Visit Windsor Manor

Union Carolers entertain residents at Windsor Manor The Union Carolers, a group of singer from the Union High School, stopped at Windsor Manor as one of the fifty stops that they will be making throughout the Christmas season.  The residents at Windsor Manor were able to enjoy a variety of songs with a bit of history about the songs. The singers also dress up in old fashioned clothes adding to the charm of the concert.

Riverbottom Ramblers entertain listeners of all ages

The Riverbottom Ramblers share bluegrass with the listeners The Riverbottom Ramblers of Cedar Rapids, performed at the Farmers Mercantile in Garrison. Riverbottom Ramblers are known for their bluegrass music, and Farmers Mercantile is known for hosting musical groups. Farmers Mercantile partners up with the Garrison Public Library who provides all kinds of food for the audience to enjoy between musical sets.

In this deliciously funny Southern-fried comedy, the Verdeen cousins of Sweetgum, Texas Gaynelle, Peaches, and Jimmie Wyvette are up against the clock as they frantically attempt to produce the ultimate high school reunion before the old building is demolished.

School House Rock set to Rock the School this Weekend

The cast of School House Rock perform the musical at the High School this weekend School of Rock opens tonight at 7 pm at the VSHS auditorium. This Andrew Lloyd Webber musical features Ned Schneebly, aka Dewey Finn, played by senior Casey Funk. The story follows the plot of the original Jack Black movie. The slacker Dewey, posing as a teacher,  takes a job at prestigious Horace Green Elementary. Along the way he teaches “musical fusion” to 13 fifth grade students, some tired teachers, several over-protective parents, his best friend the real Ned Schneebly, his uptight girl friend Patty, and “the man,” Rosalie Mullins, the principal, played by senior Sarah Schminke.

'The Last Roundup of the Guacamole Queens' to open Nov. 16

The last time for you to see the Verdeen cousins in action at the Palace is this month, with "The Last Roundup of the Guacamole Queens."  This is the 3rd show in the series started with the "Red Velvet Cake War." Director Doug Martens is excited to bring this last and final saga of the Verdeen Cousins to the Palace Stage.
