VPRD hosting BINGO Season

The Vinton Parks & Recreation Department is excited about hosting another great season of BINGO at the Vinton Skate & Activity Center. Our first event date is this Sunday, January 29 from 5-7 PM and the other two will take place on February 26 and March 26. The best part is that this a completely FREE event as well. The last several years we have had a tremendous turnout with participants ranging in age from 2 all the way through 100! So needless to say, this is an all ages event and everyone is welcome to attend.

5th & 6th Grade Honor Choir will be singing Friday, January 27 at Sinclair Auditorium

The East Central Iowa Choral Directors Association 5th & 6th Grade Honor Choir will be held on Friday, January 27 at Sinclair Auditorium on the Coe College campus in Cedar Rapids.

Rogue One: A Star Wars Story

How can you introduce Star Wars? Potentially the most epic series of all time, a brand estimated to be worth 27- 42 billion dollars, anticipated by generations of people. Rogue One: A Star Wars Story, the newest Star Wars installment, will be at the Palace for two full weeks! Playing Friday, January 20 through Thursday, February 5 at 7 pm, and in our regular matinee on Mondays, January 23 and 30, Rogue One takes viewers back- way back to the beginning of the story.

'Two Lost Souls:' Best friends share music, story in Broadway songs

Horst, the daughter of Gerald and Marcy Horst, told the audience she was returning to the Palace stage for the first time in 12 years.

'Sing' up next at Palace; brings animated 3D tale of singers and their stories

Playing Friday, January 13 through Thursday, January 19 at 7 pm, with matinees on Saturday (3 pm) and Monday (2 pm), Sing is a 3D animated film featuring the voice talents of Matthew McConaughey, Reese Witherspoon, Seth MacFarlane, Scarlett Johansson, and John C.

Moana, Disney's 56th animated film, opens at Palace tonight

By Rose Trafford, Vinton Palace Disney's 56th animated film Moana is now showing at the Palace Theatre! Ages ago, on the shores of the Polynesian Islands, the demigod Maui (Dwayne Johnson) stole a stone heart that belonged to a goddess. He planned to give it to humanity as a gift, but it was lost at sea. One thousand years later, a teenage girl named Moana (Auli'i Cravalho) lives on the island with her family, but all is not well.

ACT 1 announces auditions for 'Caught in the Net;' all interested actors encouraged to participate

ACT I would like to announce Auditions for its March production of "Caught In The Net." All Auditions will be held at the ACT 1 Center. The ACT I center is located in the Old West School building. The entrance is on the west doors on E Ave. Audition Dates/Times: Sunday, January 8th 2-4PM Monday, January 9th 6:30-8:30 PM "Caught In the Net" is the sequel to "Run for Your Wife.

Sam Thompson to perform at Farmers Mercantile, Jan. 15

ACT I will be presenting a one show event on January 15th at 2 p.m. at the Palace Theatre. "Two Lost Souls," aCabaret event featuring Vinton's own Erin Horst and cast mate Adam Yankowy, is a must see and for just $7 for adults and $2 for children,a wonderful event for the January season. 'Fantastic Beasts' to open Friday at Palace

By Rose Trafford Get your wands and broomsticks ready, "Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them" has come to the Palace! The Palace will play Fantastic Beasts beginning on Friday, December 30 at 7 pm every evening. We have two showings on New Years Eve - 2 pm and 7 pm, and will be open at 7 pm on New Year's Day, and 2 pm Monday, January 2.
