In Depth: Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles return!

“Teenager Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows” in 3D opened to an enthusiastic crowd at the Palace last night, Friday, July 1, and will run through Thursday, July 7 at 7 pm every night. There is no Monday matinee on Monday, July 4. Megan Fox, Laura Linney, and Will Arnett headline the cast. The turtles battle Stomach Tumor, Shredder, a lady ninja, two mutants – Bebop and Rocksteady – and and dartardly Baxter Stockman, played by Tyler Perry.

Cooling Dancers Win at National Competition

The Cooling Dance Center of Vinton competed June 23, 24, 25, and 26 at the Grand River Center in Dubuque for the Midwest Starz National Finals Dance Competition.  There were 41 studios and hundreds of qualifying dancers in attendance.       The Cooling Dancers brought home many awards including four high point trophies, a special judge’s award, and one Grand National Runner Up.

Six weeks until 'Mary Ingalls' play returns to IBSSS auditorium

It is six weeks until the opening of the third year of the home-grown and endearing play, “Mary Ingalls – Her Journey,” at the IBSSS auditorium.  Performance dates are August 5 and 6 at 7:00 p.m. and August 8 at 2:00 p.m.  All performances are in the Auditorium of Old Main on the Iowa Braille and Sight Saving School campus.

Benton Theatre Summer Camp

It’s a race to the finish line for Benton Theatre Rising Stars summer campers, as they prepare to present “Aesop, Come Back!” at the Benton HS auditorium this Friday night. The show is great for all ages and runs about one hour. Showtime is at 7:00pm and no tickets are required, but donations are welcomed.    Forty-five young campers have spent the past two weeks rehearsing the full-length play, which includes the tale of the Tortoise and the Hare, along with several other well-known fables.

ACT I to hold auditions Monday, June 6

ACT I of Benton County is currently holding auditions for their summer production, the musical The Burnt Part Boys. Auditions continue tonight, Monday, June 6 from 6:30 to 8 pm in the ACT I Center.   Four male singer / actors are needed for characters aged 14 and 18, and one female singer / actor for a character age 13.   Four adult male singing actors are needed for secondary roles.

2nd Annual Country Fest set for Saturday, with Lee Roy Parnell, Little Texas

The organizers of Country Fest are hoping for great weather and a great turn out for the second annual concert event this weeken. JT Promotions, the company run by Kevin and Jackie Schlarbaum and Keith and Teresa Lindsey, are preparing for the event which features Little Texas. Also performing are Lee Roy Parnell,  The JC Project and Me and Rosie B.
