“Million Dollar Arm” plays the Palace Friday, June 20 through Thursday, June 26 at 7 pm, and in our regular 2 pm Monday matinee.

Based on a true story, this Disney film follows JB Bernstein (Jon Hamm), a once-successful sports agent who now finds himself edged out by bigger, slicker competitors. Sound familiar, “Jerry McGuire” fans? He and his partner Aash (Aasif Mandvi) will have to close their business down for good if JB doesn't come up with something fast. Late one night, while watching cricket being played in India on TV, JB comes up with an idea so radical it just might work. Why not go to there and find the next baseball pitching sensation?

The trailer looks like a homerun, and both critics and regular movie-goers give this feel good true story great reviews on rottentomatoes.com.

Take note, parents – it’s rated PG! At just over two hours long, this film is not for our fidgety preschool patrons.  However, the rest of the family, especially those sports-minded members, will love it!

Needless to say, family friendly films are in short supply these days.  I fear Hollywood may have hit its quota for the year with “M$Arm” and “RIO 2” this month.  Get your tickets today!

JULY

Looks like I spoke too soon! Although our first movie in July, “The Fault in Our Stars,” is rated PG-13, our three other titles are all rated PG, including “Maleficent,” “How To Train Your Dragon 2,” and “Earth to Echo.”  Check out the calendar online at www.vintonpalace.org.
