Fourteen years ago, the first “My Big Fat Greek Wedding” was one of our top three sellers at the Palace, until “Blindside” took its spot on the wall in 2009. (“Blindside” has since be replaced by “Frozen.”)
“My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” opens Friday, April 15 through Thursday, April 21 at 7 pm, and Monday, April 21 at 2 pm.
Nia Vardalos returns are Toula Portokalos, still keeping company with her boisterous Greek family, and still married to Ian Miller (John Corbett). This time, however, it’s Maria and Gus, Toula’s restaurant-owning parents, getting married. Turns out the Greek Orthodox priest who officiated their wedding so many years ago never signed the marriage certificate.
Antics abound with Toula’s wacky family. And we are introduced to her 17-year-old daughter, Paris, played by Elena Kampouris.
“My Big Fat Greek Wedding 2” is rated PG-13 for some suggestive material. It runs 94 minutes.
ROBIN HOOD & CINDERELLA Make Nottingham Great Again
Changing hats, I hope you’ll join the VSHS players Saturday night, April 16 at 7 pm, or Sunday afternoon, April 17 at 2 pm for their annual spring play production. The drama department played to a packed auditorium Wednesday afternoon, and relished the laughter and cheers from the Tilford and Shellsburg elementary crowd.
These kid-friendly shows are highly entertaining. Indeed, the high school kids have added their own twist to the classic tales, with music, original and parody, and some added political references. All in fun, of course. Thanks for supporting the arts at Vinton-Shellsburg.
RAISE THE ROOF
And speaking of supporting the arts, we’ve passed the halfway mark. In just three short weeks you’ve donated over $20,000 toward a new roof at the Palace! Thank you, thank you, thank you! We still need to raise another 20K, so keep up the good work. Donations may be mailed to Palace Theatre, 210 W 4th St, Vinton, IA 52349, or choose the Sustaining Member Donate Now button on the front page of our website www.vintonpalace.org.
Thanks for keeping us warm and dry at the Palace Theatre.
