The Girl on the Train comes to the Palace this week! Based on the best-selling novel by Paula Hawkins, The Girl on the Train is a mystery thriller drama that will not disappoint! Playing Friday, November 4 through Thursday, November 10 at 7 pm, and Monday, November 14 at 2 pm, Train runs 112 minutes and is rated R for violennce, sexual content, language, and nudity.
Our story starts with the recently divorced Rachel (Emily Blunt) and Tom (Justin Theroux). Rachel often watches Tom and his new family from the window of a train each morning during her commute. As she continues to watch, she grows fascinated by Tom's neighbors, Scott and Megan, who seem to have the perfect marriage. What starts out as jealousy turns into anger and frustration when Rachel realizes that the couple's marriage is not the perfect picture she thinks it is. She decides to talk to Megan herself, but not until she she drinks herself into a stupor. She awakens to find herself injured and alone in her apartment, while Megan has disappeared.
As the plot twists and turns, more characters provide small pieces to the puzzle. Bit by bit the audience finds out what happened during Rachel's blackout, the whole time asking- is she somehow involved with Rachel's disappearance?
Emily Blunt's portrayal of Rachel has been widely recognized as one of the best parts of The Girl on the Train. A Rolling Stones reviewer said "Emily Blunt digs so deep into the role of a blackout drunk and maybe murderer that she raises Girl to the level of spellbinder."
This suspenseful film is rated R. Remember, patrons must be 17 or older unless accompanied by an adult.
See you at the movies!
FROM MARCY: 'ADDAMS FAMILY'
Just a quick plug for the VSHS Drama Department.... The cast and crew of The Addams Family hope to see everyone - living, dead, and undecided - at the VSHS auditorium this weekend for our hauntingly hilarious fall musical production.
Yes, I'm biased, but this is a fun and funny show! The cast is especially good this year. Hannah Haisman and David Steele headline as Morticia and Gomez, with Lindsey Miller and Gabe Schmidt as Wednesday and Lucas. Erica Noe, Cole Neilson, and Jordan Schoettmer round out the family, as Grandma, Pugsley, and Lurch, respectively. Baylee Bruce and Alex Dick play Lucas' normal parents. 13 outstanding players make up our chorus of Addams Ancestors, and senior Brittany Grendler is our capable and talented assitant director, with Rhianna Turner, Sarah Schminke and Sam Schmidt in the tech booth.
The Addams Family runs November 4 - 6, Friday and Saturday night at 7 pm, and Sunday night at 2 pm. Tickets are $5, at the door only. What are you waiting for - Death is Just Around the Corner! See you at the show!
