VINTON GARDEN CLUB JUNE 24, 2015 Vinton Garden Club member of National Garden Clubs, Inc., District II and Central Region met at 8:30 am. May 24, 2015 at the Fairgrounds Secretary Office. Kelly Kaut treated us to a wonderful brunch. Fran Stueck gave the program on “ Tips for exhibiting flowers in the flower show at the fair”.

Aaron Knaack is a March 2015 Graduate of Upper Iowa University

Upper Iowa University is pleased to announce Aaron Knaack from Newhall, IA, graduated with a BS in Emergency/Disaster Management from Upper Iowa University's Cedar Rapids Center in March. NCCC Corps Class 21 Team Leader Spotlight: Michelle Avelar

Michelle Avelar from North Bergen, New Jersey is serving on team Oak 1 in AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Class 21. She arrived in Vinton in January of 2015 to start her 11-month service term with the program. Oak 1 is made up of eight people from across the country who serve together around the Midwest. Before her term of service she graduated from Rutgers University in 2014 with a degree in Labor and Employment Relations, Human Resources Management.

NCCC Class 21 Corps Member Spotlight: Michaela Wayland

Michaela Wayland from Thorton, Colorado is serving on team Oak 4 in AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Class 21. This is her second year having previously served in the Vinton campus on team Oak 5. She arrived in Vinton in February of 2015 to start her 10-month service term with the program. Oak 4 is made up of seven people from across the country who serve together around the Midwest.

NCCC Corps Class 21 Team Leader Spotlight: Gus Davila

Gustavo "Gus" Davila from North Hills, California is as the Program Office Support Team Leader in AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Class 21. This is his second term with AmeriCorps NCCC after serving as a corps member on the team Maple 8 at the Vinton campus. He arrived in Vinton in January of 2015 to start his 11-month service term with the program.

Robert Hanson, Emily Meyer announce engagement

Teresa and Steve Meyer of Garrison, along with John and Shirale Hanson of Vinton, are pleased to announce the engagement of their children Emily Meyer and Robert Hanson. Emily and Robert will be getting married on August 1, 2015 at the Bethlehem Evangelical Lutheran Church in Vinton, Iowa.  Emily graduated from the University of Northern Iowa in 2014.

The Queen of Saints cluster has announced new mass times: 4:00 pm on Saturday— St. Paul, Newhall 6:00 pm on Saturday—Immaculate Conception, Van Horne 8:00 am on Sunday— St. Michael, Norway 10:00 am on Sunday— St. John, Blairstown or St. Patrick, Watkins

NCCC Corps Class 21 Team Leader Spotlight: Deanna Robey

Deanna Robey from Sacramento, California is serving as the Operations Support Team Leader in AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Class 21. She arrived in Vinton in January of 2015 to start her 11-month service term with the program assisting in the operations of and supply management for the North Central Region. Her role is to assist in all facets of campus operations including residence, resource, supply, and fleet management, and provide member support.

Tianna Morris from Helena, Montana is serving on team Cedar 1 in AmeriCorps NCCC Corps Class 21. She arrived in Vinton in February of 2015 to start her 10-month service term with the program. Cedar 1 is made up of seven people from across the country who serve together around the Midwest. Before her term of service she graduated from the Starr Mills High school in 2010.

Amy Andrews graduates from Central College

Central College senior Amy Andrews graduated magna cum laude May 16 in Pella, Iowa, with a degree in communication studies. Andrews, of Shellsburg, was one of 263 students who completed degrees in 36 majors. Central's class of 2015 came from 18 states, including Florida, California, Arizona, Washington, Colorado, Ohio, New Jersey and Michigan.
