Maybe you have heard about Make a Difference Day (MADD) and are wondering what it is all about. MADD is celebrated each year on the 4th Saturday in October. Created by USA WEEKEND Magazine, it is the nation’s largest day of volunteering, thanks to the passion of millions of people.
AmeriCorps NCCC Class 18 Corps Member Spotlight: Carson Frame

Carson is currently serving as a member of Maple 2 with the AmeriCorps NCCC at the Vinton Campus. Carson wants to have a direct and positive impact on her country. She wants to become better acquainted with the problems facing American communities and be a part of the solution.
Wild Hair Day: Tilford students (and some teachers) bring new styles

NCCC team, Maple 5, arrived in Henryville six months after the March 2 tornado swept through the small town and destroyed hundreds of houses and shook up the community.
Upon arriving, the team took notice of the still fallen trees on the hillside adjacent from the newly rebuilt high school near the Twin Oaks Subdivision where the team would work with Habitat for Humanity to build 10 new houses.

Victoria is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Spruce 1 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in NCCC FEMA Corps because she wanted to travel and reach out to communities in order to help as many people as possible.
Victoria graduated from Talent Unlimited High School in 2007 and the University of Hartford in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in International Studies. VSHS NHS inducts new members
Celebrating the qualities of scholarship, character, leadership and service, the Vinton-Shellsburg High School National Honor Society Chapter officially welcomed its new members during the induction ceremony Tuesday evening in the VSHS auditorium.
Current members escorted the new inductees onto the stage; NHS officers led the ceremony. Amy Van Wechel, a 2000 VSHS graduate, was the special guest speaker. IOWA STATE UNIV COLLEGE OF AG SCHOLARSHIPS
Students Awarded Scholarships from Iowa State University College of Agriculture and Life Sciences
The College of Agriculture and Life Sciences at Iowa State University recently recognized its scholarship recipients for the current academic year, 2012-2013.
The college and its departments award more than $2 million in scholarships each year.
