NCCC Fire Team Creates New Life

Maple 5 arrived in Wapello, Iowa on March 19 with anticipation and a burning desire to put all their training into action with the Louisa County Conservation Board, the Iowa DNR and the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.
As the project comes to a close this Friday, the 11-member team is looking at the variety of work accomplished ranging from prescribed burns, trail maintenance and environmental education field trips and lessons.

AmeriCorps NCCC team Cedar 4 headed to Maquoketa, Iowa on March 12, 2012. They arrived at the Jackson County Conservation board ready to work on an archery trail. The team headed out on the half-mile hike clearing the new trail. Some members cut down trees and other members tossed the logs to the side of the trail.
Maple 3 completes project at Flat Rock YMCA Camp in Indiana

AmeriCorps National Civilian Community Corps (NCCC) team Maple 3 completed their first project with NCCC at the Flat Rock YMCA camp in St. Paul, Indiana. The team of ten spent four weeks helping out the camp. Wood chipping, stump grinding, ice blasting and staining furniture were some of the tasks the team worked on.
