Training Opportunity to Become a Volunteer Bald Eagle Nest Monitor

The Iowa DNR will be holding two training opportunities for people interested in becoming volunteer bald eagle nest monitors. One workshop will be held via Zoom on Saturday February 10th from 1:00 pm to 4:00pm and the other will be held in person at the Central Park Nature Center in Jones County on Saturday, March 23rd from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm. Secretary Pate opens the nomination process for the 2024 John Lewis Youth Leader
The John Lewis Youth Leadership Award recognizes civic-minded Iowans aged 25 and under Iowa Secretary of State Paul Pate today announced that nominations are now open for the 2024 John Lewis Youth Leadership Award. Iowans aged 25 or younger who have made a meaningful commitment to addressing civil rights and bringing about authentic change in their communities are eligible.
Last chance to hunt deer until fall
Iowa’s final deer seasons are now open - the Population Management January Antlerless Season and the Excess Tag January Antlerless Season. Both seasons run from Jan. 11-21, but there are differences between the two. UNI offers Free Application Week for future business students
In celebration of the newly-named Wilson College of Business, UNI invites prospective business students to apply for free from January 14 through January 19, 2024. January is Braille Literacy Month. Join us for a special Storytime with Carolyn Hibbs who will be reading a book in braille. We will also have popcorn as an after-school snack!She will be reading to us on Friday. January 19 at 2:00 p.m. in the library. This event is for children K-5th grade.

Five area students named to Wartburg Fall Term Dean’s List
Wartburg College has recognized 484 students who were named the 2023 Fall Term Dean’s List.The list honors students who earned a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or above in at least four course credits during the term. Three of the four course credits have to be graded with a traditional letter grade. Wartburg students take four courses during Fall Term, which runs from September through December.
