Plant heirloom marigolds to deter insects in garden. Plant garlic or scented geraniums by your roses to keep Japanese beetles away. To attract Mason bees, take an empty coffee can and fill it with paper rolled around a pencil 5/16” and pack it in the can. Hang it so it doesn’t move on a post, you can use a black marker on the ends to attract bees face it southeast. They lay in spring and come out the next spring. When pruning dip shears in 9 parts water to 1 part bleach after each cut. Fran reported that when you are hostess you have to notify members when changes are made and send out cards to membership. The basement in the library is available for programs and meetings at no charge and you can take in refreshments. You need to reserve in advance if anyone decides to use the facilities. Fran will check with Park and Recreation department and fairgrounds to see if they could use a tree somewhere for our Arbor Day planting on April 25th.
