Commissioner Robert Ritscher presents James Brecht with Benton SWCD Scholarship Award.
This year, the Benton Soil & Water Conservation District Commissioners sponsored a scholarship of $250. Students who reside in Benton County and are pursuing a course of study in the field of Natural Resources or Agriculture are eligible to apply. The Commissioners received and reviewed applications in March, making their selection.
James Brecht, a student at Benton Community High School, was chosen to receive the 2015 Scholarship Award. James is the son of Steven and Peggy Brecht of Norway. James will attend Iowa State University, studying agriculture and agronomy. He has been active in FFA, 4H, and sports; as well as in his community. He hopes to return to the family farm after gaining his degrees.
The Benton SWCD Commissioners congratulate Mr. Brecht, and wish him well as he pursues his educational and career goals.
