Iowa N.E.W. Leadership is an intensive 5-day residential institute designed to empower women and increase the participation of underrepresented groups in all sectors of leadership. The Institute experience is built around a challenging curriculum that develops knowledge and skill in key areas, including: strategic communication, policy analysis, philanthropy, negotiation, community development, professional sustainability, relationship-building, productive engagement with difference, conflict and collaboration.
Developed by the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University in 1991, the NEW Leadership ™ network currently includes 21 colleges and universities serving women in 25 states.
The University of Iowa joined in 2007 and will hold its fourth Summer Institute May 23 – 27, 2011.
Elise Healzer was nominated and selected to attend this conference at the University next week, only 25-30 women who are in either undergraduate or graduate programs each year are chosen to attend this event.
She is finishing her first year of graduate work at Mt. Mercy University for a Master of Arts in Marriage and Family Therapy which she will complete in 2012.
