Hot weather didn't distract fans at the Benton County Speedway from showing their support of the local "Friends of the Shelter" organization during Fuzzy Friends and Hawaiian night on Sunday, July 22nd. Everyone was encouraged to wear their Hawaiian themed clothing and bring donations of pet supplies. Hundreds of fans entered the gates carrying bags of dog food, cat toys, treats and more. The tropical theme included frozen smoothies being sold with all proceeds going to help support the shelter operations, and the night's winners wearing grass skirts and coconut bras in victory lane. The next theme night will be Christmas in August on August 5th. Fans are encouraged to wear red and green clothing and kids can participate in a white elephant gift exchange by bringing their wrapped $5 gift before the races and choosing one to take home after the races. Pending hot weather, Santa will also be making a visit. Alzheimer's Awareness Night will take place on August 12th, with a racing simulator and silent auction. Silent auction items include a chainsaw carving by Brian Parr, a car care package, an entertainment package and more. DC July 24, 2012, 4:41 pm We are going through all the boxes now & sorting through the large amt of food & treats, etc. There are some really fun things for the cats to play with that they\'ve already gotten into. Thank you all so much and we hope everybody had a great time!! (thanks Dan for the delivery service)
