Name: Jerome Frey Hometown: Woodbury, Conn. Jerome is currently serving as a member of Cedar 4 with the AmeriCorps NCCC at the Vinton Campus. Jerome has a variety of experiences that are assisting him in his success as a Corps Member. Jerome has worked with non-profit organizations for many years, including, Trumbull Loves Children Inc., which has afforded him the opportunity to develop the skills to handle children from grades preschool thru middle school. Jerome has also volunteered his time to a Special Olympic swim at a local high school as well as assisting individuals with training and racing in of charity runs. Jerome graduated from Trumbull High School in 2006 and Eastern Connecticut State University in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. Jerome believes that his Mathematics background is assisting him and his team in problem solving as well as bring his team together when there is conflict. After his term of service, Jerome plans on attending graduate school. Jerome and his term are currently serving in Sioux Falls, S.D with a variety of different organizations including the City of Sioux Falls, Habitat for Humanity, Dakotabilities and Groundwork. Cedar 4 is conducting a river clean-up, landscaping, home repairs, fence installation and surveying the occupants of downtown Sioux Falls. Prior to this project Cedar 4 was in Willow River, Minn. with One Heartland, a camp for individuals that fare facing social isolation due to HIV/AIDs, homelessness, Type 2 Diabetes and identifying as GLBTQ, and Henryville, Ind. working at the Volunteer Reception Center, assisting individuals whose homes were destroyed by tornadoes.
