NCCC Team, Cedar Two team arrived at the YMCA Camp Wapsie in Coggon, Iowa last week. Camp Wapsie provide an environment where children can experience the outdoors and learn about the guiding principles of caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Cedar Two is helping with Camp Wapsie’s mission by providing improvements to the buildings and play areas, such as the Burma bridge and archery structure, as well as working with the kids.
The teams tasks at Camp Wapsie include belaying kids at the climbing tower, clearing and building a fence for a new play area, building a wood shed, and clearing out and organizing the large tool shed. They are also trail building, installing gutters and fixing the archery structure.
According to an NCCC member of Cedar 2, “We are excited about this project, not only because we get to work with kids but we also feel that the type of work we are doing sums our whole years’ experience together. It is so nice for this to be our final project.”
