By: Rachel Lebeaux Name: Callie Keeney Hometown: St. Paul, Minn. Callie is currently serving as a member of Maple 7 with the AmeriCorps NCCC at the Vinton Campus. Callie decided to serve because she wanted to have experience in helping others and growing as a person. Callie is enthusiastic and always willing to help out other individuals. She always strives to make others feel comfortable by providing them with someone to listen. Callie graduated from Roseville Area High School in 2007 and the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities in 2007 with a Bachelor of Arts in Psychology and a minor in Cultural Studies and Comparative Literature. Prior to joining NCCC, Callie was working at the University of Minnesota’s Educational Psychology and Research Department. After her term of service, Callie is looking into going to Graduate School or finding a job. Callie and her team are currently serving in Monticello, Iowa with Camp Courageous. The team is working as camp counselors for individuals with disabilities. Prior to this project, Callie and her team were serving in Des Moines and Iowa City with Habitat for Humanity. They also served in Valparaiso, Ind. at the Talltree Arboretum and Youngstown, Ohio with the Youngstown Neighborhood Development Corporation.
