Today's NCCC Spotlight is on FEMA Corps Pine 1 team leader Amy Fulton.
Name: Amy Fulton
Hometown: Greencastle, Pa.
Amy is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Pine 1 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in NCCC FEMA Corps because she believes that a term of service will increase her compassion and help her grow as an individual. She says, “Serving others can offer experiences that give us perspectives we may not otherwise get.”
Amy graduated from high school in 2011. She hopes that her time with NCCC FEMA Corps will help her recognize her skills and passions, giving her a direction to take after her service term ends. At this point she is considering attending college, signing up for another year of national service, or finding work.
A unique experience that has shaped Amy is living with a sister who has cerebral palsy. Despite the challenges caused by her sister’s limitations Amy and her family have learned to adapt and find ways to include her sister in family activities like driveway basketball games. Amy has lots of experience with improvising and she believes this will be an asset to her team during her term with NCCC FEMA Corps.
