Name: Alexis Kapuscinski

Hometown: Lebanon, N.H.

Alexis is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Spruce 1 at the Vinton Campus. She chose to participate in AmeriCorps NCCC FEMA Corps because she wanted to get a good look at the “real” world while spending time helping others.

Alexis graduated from Lebanon High School this past June. When discussing her options for life after high school her stepmother brought up AmeriCorps and Alexis jumped at the chance to serve. When her time with NCCC FEMA Corps ends she plans to pursue a bachelor’s degree.

Community service is one of Alexis’s passions. During high school she volunteered at David’s House in Lebanon, an organization that provides housing for sick children and their families. As a volunteer she cooked for families, talked with them and played with the children. “I have always enjoyed being with kids,” she says. “That was such a rewarding experience.
