Shea Douglas, from South Burlington, Vt., is the field team leader for Pine 3 in NCCC FEMA Corps’ Class 20. He arrived in Vinton on July 22, 2013, to start his 11-month service term leading a team of people between the ages of 18 and 24. Pine 3 is made up of nine people from across the country and they will serve together on emergency management projects, performing administrative and logistical support for FEMA.
“I chose to do a year of service to further my professional development,” Shea said, “and to see what I could do to help further the development of FEMA Corps as a program.” Shea has several skills and a knowledge base that he brings with him to the team leader position including dedication, the drive to complete tasks to the best of his abilities and valuable insights from his prior experience in the FEMA Corps program. These skills will especially come in handy as he manages his team through the various projects they will take on throughout the year.
Shea graduated from Lamoille Union High School in 2007 and attended Community College of Vermont prior to joining FEMA Corps. After completing his second term of service he plans to return to school to complete his degree and work full time.
This is Shea’s second term of service with FEMA Corps. Last year he served as a corps member on team Hickory 4 at the Vinton campus. He sees the potential of the program and is excited to help shape its evolution over the next 10 months.
