The 4th Street Diner meal on Sunday, November 17th will be Roast Pork, Mashed Potatoes/Gravy, Spinach, Peaches, Cake, WW Bread, Milk.

On Monday, October 7th, four tables of Pepper Cards were played. Esther Novotny won1st place with 232 points. Bill Milne won 2nd place with 227 points. Third place went to Geri Shaffer with 226 points. After the games, refreshments were served by Card Club. Beverages were provided by HACAP.

On Tuesday, October 8th, the Birthday dinner honoring those with October birthdays was held. We welcomed the Urbana Card Club and the Big Grove Homemakers as our guests. Stuart Gulick provided the afternoon musical entertainment.

On Wednesday, October 9th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Maureen Haisman was the volunteer caller and JoAnn Roster handpicked the games. Game one was Four Corners Frame the Free Spot with Mae Wilhelmi winning. Game two was Top Line and Bottom Line with Elsie Knaack winning. Game three was Wild Number ThreeBingos with Greta Geiken an Faye Goodell winning. Game four was Letter “M” withJoAnn Roster as the winner. Greta Geiken won game five with Blackout.

On Thursday, October 10th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Vickie Holst was the volunteer caller. Nancy and Keith Wiese handpicked the games. Game one was a Layer Cake with Faye Goodell winning. Game two was Frosting with Nancy Wiesewinning. Game three was Shot Gun No Free with Greta Geiken winning. Game four was Small Frame Four Corners with Faye Goodell as the winner. LaVonne Palmer won game five with Blackout.

On Friday, October 11th, five tables of 500 Cards were played. Leroy Weiser won 1stplace with 3,650 points. Geri Shaffer won 2nd place with 3,260 points. Don Selken won 3rd place with 3,060 points. After the games, refreshments were provided by the Card Club. HACAP provided the beverages.

On Monday, October 14th, three tables of Pepper Cards were played. Geri Shaffer won 1st place with 325 points. Bill Milne won 2nd place with 278 points. Irene Geiger and Bud Barr tied for 3rd place with 268 points. After the games, other refreshments were provided by card club. HACAP provided the beverages.

On Tuesday, October 15th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Maureen Haismanwas the volunteer caller. Beverly Stein handpicked the games. Game one was Four Postage Stamps with JoAnn Roster winning. Game two was a Shot Gun with Viola Calvert winning. Game three was Stair Steps with Marion Isbell winning. Game four was a Layer Cake with Greta Geiken winning. Hazel Eastwood won with a Blackout on game five.

On Wednesday, October 16th, the afternoon musical entertainment was provided by Judy Mehlert.

On Thursday, October 17th, the afternoon activity was 10-Cent Bingo. Vickie Holst was the volunteer caller. George Eckhart handpicked the games. Game one was Staircase with Elsie Knaack and Ruth Wieditz winning. Game two was the Letter “W” with JoAnn Roster winning. Game three was a 9-Pack with George Eckhart as the winner. Game four was Three Bingos with Ruth Wieditz as the winner. Elsie Knack won game five with Blackout.

On Friday, October 18th, there were five tables of 500 played. Nellie Cobb won 1st place with 3,280 points. Second place went to Merle Roths with 3,110 points. Geri Shaffer won 3rd place with 2,950 points. After the games, Bud Bar provided fudge bars to share in honor of his 89th birthday. Other refreshments were provided by Card Club. Beverages were provided by HACAP.

Serving Buffet from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM, Monday through Friday. A choice of salads are available Monday – Friday on site.

Everyone is WELCOME! Suggested contribution for individuals 60 years old or older, and their spouse (regardless of age) is $3.25 for the meal. Individuals who are not yet 60 are WELCOME but need to pay $4.25 for their meal. If you are just coming for the activity, the suggested contribution is $1.00. Carryout meals are available. We deliver meals to Vinton, Newhall, Urbana, and Garrison/Mt Auburn. The suggested contribution is $3.50/meal if you are 60 or older. For those under age 60, the suggested contribution is $4.25 for home delivered meals. We also have nutritious frozen meals and liquid supplements. Delivery is throughout Benton County. Please call by 10:00 AM daily to cancel a Home Delivered Meal. For more information about services, please call 319-472-4761, or to reserve a table for groups of three or more. Please help us recruit more people to join the 4th St Diner Meal program. All contributions are used toward the continued operations of the meal site.

Each month the 4th St Diner has a special day set aside to celebrate birthdays for that month. It is always scheduled for the second Tuesday of each month. Anyone having a birthday for that particular month is encouraged to make a reservation for themselves and any guests they would like to celebrate with. The names of all birthday celebrants who have made a reservation for the Birthday Table are entered into the door prize drawing. We currently have two door prizes scheduled for each month. The first is $5 in Vinton Unlimited Value Dollars generously donated by Vinton Unlimited. The second is a gift certificate for a free 4th Street Diner meal. Reservations for the Birthday Dinner table can be made by calling 472-4761. Reservations need to be made by 10:00 AM on the day of the celebration.
