For the past five years East-Central Iowa Rural Electric Cooperative has awarded over 75, $500 and $1,000 scholarships to winning students from 16 area high schools who are going into various fields of study. Those seniors who want to work in the electric utility industry as a line worker and are accepted in the one- or two-year Powerline Tech Program at Northwest Iowa Community College, ECI awards up to two (2) $1,000 scholarships each year. This year there were no applications received for the Powerline Tech Program, however, there were 56 application received for the $500 scholarships and ten (10) of those scholarships will be awarded to these selected high school seniors who’s parents or legal guardians receive electricity from ECI REC.
“ECI REC would like to congratulate all our scholarship recipients. We are proud to actively participate in our members’ communities by supporting the collegiate-level education of these students.” - Harry Ruth, ECI REC CEO
