Editor's Note: Today we include information about another AmeriCorps member who is living in Vinton while serving Americans in many states this year. Name: Sara Butler Hometown: Orlando, Florida Sara is currently serving as a member of Cedar 6 with AmeriCorps NCCC at the Vinton Campus. Sara is dedicated to serving her community and brings previous service experience to NCCC. She was the Greek liaison for the University of Central Florida’s Habitat for Humanity chapter and volunteered at a pottery studio. Sara graduated from Coral Glades High School in 2007 and University of Central Florida in May 2011 with a degree in Hospitality and Event Management. After graduating from college, Sara decided to stay in Orlando and work as a server at a popular restaurant located on Universal Studios City Walk. She also volunteered at a pottery studio. After her term of service, Sara wants to join a cruise line and work with the recreation and children’s programming department. Sara and her team are currently serving in Pine Ridge, S.D. with SuAnne Big Crow Boys and Girls Club. They are assisting in the set up and celebration of their twentieth anniversary celebration as well as providing programming and oversight at the club. Before this project, Cedar 6 was in Madison, Wis. working with the University of Wisconsin Arboretum. They removed invasive species and assisted in the nursery.
