By: Krista Eichhorst

Name: Chris Southwick

Hometown: Califon, N.J.

Chris is serving as a member of the NCCC FEMA Corps team Spruce 3 at the Vinton Campus. Prior to serving he was an AmeriCorps National member with Habitat for Humanity of Greater Newburgh. He chose to participate in NCCC FEMA Corps because he felt like it was a great way to continue to give back while also getting to travel and explore a new part of the United States.

Chris graduated from Voorhees High School in 2007 and Haverford College in 2011 with a bachelor’s degree in mathematical economics and a minor in the growth and structure of cities. At this point he doesn’t have any concrete plans for after his service term but would like to continue working with his hands and traveling.

Chris is already well-versed in the perks of teamwork. During the fall of his senior year of college he and his cross country team won the NCAA Division III team championship at Wartburg College. He can’t wait to see what his NCCC FEMA Corps team will accomplish this year!
