Name: Rebecca Bigler

Hometown: Littleton, CO

Rebecca served as a Class 18 Corps Member on team Oak 7 at the Vinton campus in 2012. In January 2013, she began serving a second year in Vinton as the Community Relations Support Team Leader for NCCC’s Class 19. Rebecca will be assisting with recruitment and media outreach in addition to leading teams when needed.

Rebecca decided to serve a second year because she loved her projects last year and how impactful they were, so she really wanted to continue to make a difference as a Team Leader. Rebecca brings the following skills to her Support Team Leader position: motivation, creativity, leadership and previous NCCC experience.

Rebecca graduated from Highlands Ranch High School in 2007 and University of Colorado at Colorado Springs in 2011 with a Bachelor of Arts in English and minors in Film and Music.

Prior to NCCC, Rebecca was working as a music instructor and waitress. After completing her Team Leader year, she plans to travel more and is considering a career in journalism.

Q: What will be your first words of advice for your team members? “Resist the urge to procrastinate”

Q: What is one place in the world that you really, really wish you could visit? Athens, Greece

Q: What is your favorite candy? Hershey’s Milk Chocolate Bar

Q: If you could come back as an animal which animal would it be and why? A mountain lion because they are powerful and beautiful.

Q: Are there any sayings your parents repeated over and over that you can still remember clearly? “Don’t procrastinate!” It didn’t stick.

Q: What do you like to do in your free time? Write, crochet, watch movies and read

Q: Could you give us one reason to join AmeriCorps NCCC? You will meet people of so many backgrounds and places that you couldn’t meet anywhere else.
