On Friday, May 5, graduates of Marshalltown Community College took their next step as they became alumni of the College. Graduates listed below represent those who completed their degree or diploma work during the summer 2017 terms.

Iowa State University awarded a total of 894 degrees at the end of the 2017 summer term. Of the students receiving degrees, 515 were awarded bachelor's degrees, 240 received master's degrees and 139 received doctor of philosophy degrees.

Max Petzenhauser of Story County exhibited the Grand Champion Market Meat Goat in the 4-H Market Meat Goat show judged Thursday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.

Brice Conover of Baxter won the Champion Gilt Berkshire Show at the 2017 Iowa State Fair. The Reserve Gilt was shown by Reed Family Berks of Ottumwa. The Grand Champion Boar banner went to Four Generations Berkshire of Ida Grove while the Reserve Champion Boar banner was awarded to Long Family Farms of Cedar.

The Vinton Garden Club, a member of National Garden Clubs, Inc. District II and Central Region metat 8:30 a.m., on Wednesday, June 28, 2017, at the secretary's office of the Benton County Fairgrounds.

Ginger Werner of Chelsea claimed the Sweepstakes title in the Sheaf Grains division of the Farm Crops show judged Thursday at the 2017 Iowa State Fair.
