Dollars for Scholars will present Donkey Basketball at the V/S Middle School Gymnasium on Saturday, April 2.

Teams of local residents will attempt to ride comically trained donkeys in a quest to become the DFS dribbling champions of 2011. Three games will be played, with doors opening at 6pm and games starting at 7pm. Teams include: Game One: V/S High School Junior Class members Cheyenne Barnes, Charlie Betterton, Brinkley Gerber, Kristin Henderson, Johnathan Levis, Jake Milroy, Tyler Naughton, Erin Spangler and Alex Springer will take on the team of Betterton and Clickstop with Matt Betterton, Scott Barron, Rich Miracle, Marla Sutton, Brandon Willey, Sarah Barron, Nicole Guenther, JJ Floss. Game Two: V/S Faculty and Staff Deb Hanneman, Barb Salger, Ryan Davis, Larry Gardemann, Jim Mochal, Eric Mohlis, Aaron Zuspann, Louise Fleming and Duane Fisher will take on the Vinton Unlimited team of Kathy Tranel, Dave Wessling, Tom Lindauer, Andy Lent, Pat Lyons, Rich Hainstockand Rob Levis. Myra Kearns and Sandy Hamilton will be official pooper scoopers. Game Three: V/S Senior Class members Jake Dyson, Allison Emrich, Erika Hammar, Megan Jorgensen, Travis Libbert, Wesley Lyons, Andy Roster and Ben Stainbrook will take on local Law Enforcement members Whitney Stout, LaDonna Fairbanks, Jon Geiger, Scott Bahmann, Alex Reinert, Josh West, Ben Parmater and James Livingston. Free donkey rides will be offered during intermission for kids in middle school and younger. Water, popcorn and snacks will also be available with all proceeds benefitting the Vinton Area Dollars for Scholars. Tickets for the event are available at US Bank, Farmers Savings Bank, Cedar Valley Bank and all V/S School offices in Vinton. Tickets are available in Shellsburg at USA Communications.
