The City Council was presented with requests from the Sesquicentennial Celebration committee for several events that will be happening in just a few weeks.

Tonight area fire departments and their spouses will battle it out in downtown Vinton. They will meet on 4th St. in front of the courthouse. Registration for the fights begin at 6:00 p.

The Vinton Public Library will hold a retirement party for Lani Schwarting who has worked at the Library for more than two decades. Stop in today to wish Lani well and to thank her for her service to the city of Vinton.

The Standing Hampton group will be performing at the Vinton Sesquicentennial, Saturday, August 17 at Celebration Park beginning at 7:00 p.m. Famous for Rock, Standing Hampton is a high powered tribute to the hottest Rock icons of all time! For over eighteen years, Standing Hampton has been entertaining 70s & 80s Classic Rock fans across the Midwest, performing at countless festivals, town celebrations, casinos, special events, and clubs.

On August 3rd from  2:00-5:00 p.m.there will be a beer tasting on the library lawn.  There will be an added attraction this year – ax throwing.

PEO Chapter MZ will meet Monday, July 22, at 1:30, at Windsor Manor.  Hostess will be JoAnn Schmidt and Karen Schlue will present the program.
