Some of the Vinton Parks & Recreation Department’s facilities will be undergoing some haunting changes in the next week in celebration of Halloween and needs your help! Next Friday night on October 26th, the Hesson Shelter at Riverside Park will become the Haunted Shelter for one night only from 6:30 to 9 PM.

Large Turnout Expected for Race Day With only 10 days to go before A Flaughless 5K makes its debut, the community of Vinton and throughout Iowa have already embraced this event with a great deal of support.

  The Vinton-Shellsburg FFA Chapter, along with the Benton County Farm Bureau Federation, will be teaming up on Friday October 19, 2012 for a Tailgate Party!  It will be held at north end of the high school parking lot beginning at 4:00 p.

I typically have a rule that I don't promote Christmas activites in full force until after Thanksgiving has run it's course, however, I'm going to make an exception for a couple of very special events coming up faster than it seems.

PEO Chapter MZ will meet at 1:30 PM. on Monday, Oct. 22, at the home of Dona Merchant assisted by Frieda Davis.  The program will be presented by Becky Primus.

  The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department would like to announce some upcoming fitness programs that may pique your interest. VPRD will host a fall session of Aqua Aerobics at the Braille School indoor pool beginning on October 21st.
