Did you know that Iowa had about 25,000 German, Italian, and Japanese POWs from 1943-1946?Algona and Clarinda were the main camps. There were about 17 branch camps throughout the state, where the POWs worked on short-term projects.

On Saturday, November 2nd the Vinton Skate and Activity Center will be the hot spot to get all your craft and baked goods in Vinton.  The Vinton Parks and Recreation Department is hosting our annual sale beginning at 8:00am and ending at approximately 1:00pm The department has had a great sign up by vendors including yummy baked goods, candles, wood crafts, jewelry, chocolates, quilts, jerky and more.
