Summer Reading Program events: Blank Park Zoo, Pint-Size Polkas

The Vinton Public Library is planning two special events in the next week as part of its Summer Reading Program activities. At 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, a representative of Blank Park Zoo will bring some of the zoo's animals to the library.

Bereavement support group to meet July 3

The local bereavement support group “Meet and Eat” will meet Thursday July 3 at noon at the Pizza Ranch.  Anyone grieving a loss is welcome.

The 2nd Annual Evergreen Cemetery Flea Market is now under way, at the cemetery, at 1002 E 10th St. in Vinton, IA. Hours are 8 to 5 today and Saturday.

Cedar River R.A.T.S to take hiatus in 2014; planning begins for '15 clean-up

Starting in 2008, the “Year of the FLOOD”, and getting stronger and better for the next six years in a row, a dedicated group of volunteers, officially known as the RATS (Running Around Tidying Streams) has gathered on an early day in August with a common mission: to clean the Cedar River and her banks.
