March 10, 2020                 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Bierschenk and Seeman were present.

Vinton Shellsburg makes plans to close through April 10

The Vinton-Shellsburg Administrative Team and Directors spent several hours Monday morning discussing the current situation revolving around COVID-19. As part of our next steps we anticipate being closed through April 10th.

Assistance for employees and employers affected by COVID-19 related layoffs

Governor Reynolds today announced assistance for workers and employers impacted by layoffs related to COVID-19.  The guidance includes information for employees filing for unemployment insurance claims, as well as information on programs available for employers.

Vinton Shellsburg Closes School on Monday, March 15

Following the Governor's announcement today, Vinton-Shellsburg will be closing schools tomorrow."Based on Governor Reynold's recommendation, school will be closed tomorrow.

Benton County Democratic Convention Postponed

Rosemary Schwartz, Chair of the Benton County Democratic Central Committee has announced that the March 21 County Convention has been postponed due to the Covid 19 pandemic sweeping the country.

COVID-19 community spread confirmed in Iowa

The Iowa Department of Public Health (IDPH) has been notified of one additional positive case of an Iowan with COVID-19, for a total of 18 positive cases.

While we continue to work on bills and put the budget together, we are also monitoring COVID-19.At the time of this article most of the cases are isolated to Johnson County and were all older adults (61-80 years) and were on the same Egyptian cruise.
