September 19, 2017 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Wiley, Primmer, and Bierschenk present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Bierschenk moved/ Primmer seconded: Approve the minutes of Tuesday, September 12 and Friday, September 15, 2017.

September 19, 2017 The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Wiley, Primmer, and Bierschenk present. The meeting was called to order at 11:15 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Primmer moved/Bierschenk seconded:To approve fireworks permit for Bloomsbury Farms for September 20, 2017.

Help Wanted: Vinton Council ballot has no candidates for 3rd Ward

While there are three guys running for Mayor, two guys running for the at-large seat on the Vinton City Council, and a guy and a gal running for the First Ward seat, nobody has entered the race for 3rd Ward City Council. The 3rd Ward includes the southwest quadrant of Vinton. Everything west of C Avenue and south of West 9th St. is in the 3rd Ward.

Vinton Police Department Log for Week of September 18-24, 2017 All Charges are subject to review by The Benton County Attorney's Office. An arrest or criminal charge is merely an accusation and the Defendant is presumed innocent and unless proven guilty. Intrastate Warrants are issued by Law Enforcement Agencies for crimes happening in their jurisdictions.

City elections set: 3-way race for mayor, two contested council races; but no candidate for 3rd Ward

The Nov. 7 Vinton City Council ballot is now set; two more candidates filed papers before Thursday's deadline First Ward incumbent Ron Hessenius will run for re-election; he is being challenged by Dixie Meyer. Both have filed papers this week. In other races we have previously told you about: Rich Hainstock, Bud Maynard and Dean Haack are candidates for Mayor.

Benton Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners to hold meeting Wednesday, September 27

The next regular meeting of the Benton Soil and Water Conservation District Commissioners will be held on Wednesday, September 27, 2017 at 9:00 a.m. at the District Office, 1705 West D Street in Vinton. Agenda items include: approval of minutes from previous meetings, public participation, approval of treasurer's report and bills, approval of conservation plans, watershed reports, state cost-share programs, an update on NRCS activities, a review of the correspondence file, any other commissioner input or other business, and scheduling of the next meeting.
