VINTON—As a precursor to the 1st District Democratic Convention, the five Democratic candidates for Congress will participate in a public forum on April 25, 2014. The event will take place at the Vinton-Shellsburg High School, 210 W 21st, Vinton, IA. Doors will open at 6:30 pm with the forum beginning at 7:00 pm. The forum is free and open to the public.

Vinton has been selected as the site for the convention and forum, the first for Benton County. Five candidates, Swati Dandekar, Cedar Rapids; State Representative Anesa Kajtazovic, Waterloo; Dave O’Brien, Cedar Rapids; State Representative Pat Murphy, Dubuque; and Monica Vernon, Cedar Rapids; are vying to replace Congressman Bruce Braley who is campaigning to represent our state as Senator.

Those representing the press for the forum will have to have appropriate credentials. Check in at the press table.
