October 9, 2018
The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular adjourned session with Supervisors Primmer, Wiley and Bierschenk present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the minutes from October 2, 2018. Motion carried.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: Approve payroll checks numbered 140264 through 140281, ACH deposits numbered 35791 through 35933, handwritten 228774, vendor checks numbered 228775 through 228780 and payment of checks numbered 228781 through 228964. Motion carried.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Treasurer’s Quarterly Investment Report ending September 30, 2018. Motion carried.
Phil Borleske, Benton County Historical Preservation Commission provided an update to the board regarding a $100,000 grant for mediation of broken down properties such as the Herring Hotel in Belle Plaine. Borleske feels the hotel is a perfect candidate for that full amount, however it has to go through the City of Belle Plaine. The Historical Preservation Commission has been asked to get involved, and they wanted to let the supervisors know what they were doing to help out.
Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To approve the Recorder’s Quarterly Report for period ending September 30, 2018. Motion carried.
Wiley moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the Auditor’s Quarterly Report for period ending September 30, 2018. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved/Wiley seconded: To approve the Sheriff’s Quarterly Report for period ending September 30, 2018. Motion carried.
Supervisor Bierschenk reported on the informational Iowa DOT meeting he attended regarding HWY 30. There has been a push to have an interchange at the Van Horne/Blairstown corner. Other brief committee reports were also had.
