The Benton County Board of Supervisors met in regular session with Supervisors Primmer, Bierschenk and Seeman present. The meeting was called to order at 9:00 a.m. Members of the public were provided the zoom access capability to join in during open session and watch live at the county's YouTube channel. Unless otherwise noted, all actions were approved unanimously. Summarized Resolutions will be available in the Auditor's office and at: www.bentoncountyiowa.org
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve both sets of the minutes from Tuesday, August 25, 2020.
Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve and authorize signature on the solar panel easement agreement between Benton County, IA and the City of Newhall for a period of 25 years required by Newhall to maintain and utilize the public improvement beginning on August 1, 2020. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve and sign letter of support for the Benton County Historical Preservation to apply for a grant to host a conference. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve the second tier canvass as read for the Walford Special City Election Canvass. The official results declared Randy Bauer the winner and is to be recorded in the office of the County Auditor. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To approve Resolution #20-59, Hiring Scott Bahmann as Sheriff Deputy effective September 15, 2020 at $28.67 an hour. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve Resolution #20-60, temporary road closure from 70th Street thence north 1.0 mile to 71st Street along 19th Ave in Union Township effective September 8, 2020. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To enter closed session pursuant to Iowa code 21.5(1)c. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To exit closed session at 9:54 a.m. Motion carried.
Seeman moved/Bierschenk seconded: To act on what was discussed in closed session. Motion carried.
The Board took a quick recess and then had some committee reports.
Bierschenk moved/Seeman seconded: To approve Resolution #20-61, Granting Travis and Pamela Pettit Variance to the sub-division in Parcel C in NW ¼ SE ¼ 4-85-10. Motion carried.
Bierschenk moved//Seeman seconded: To adjourn. Motion carried.
