Vinton Today asked our mayoral candidates, and the new council member candidates to submit a profile about themselves and to address any issues that they felt were going well, things that need to be improved, or goals that they would like to see accomplished in Vinton, and of course, anything else they'd like to share.

I grew up in Vinton, graduating from Vinton-Shellsburg High School in May of 2011. Following high school, I attended Iowa State University and majored in Speech Communications with minors in advertising and ag communications. After graduating from ISU in May 2015 I moved back to Vinton. My partner, two dogs and I love living in Vinton and being close to family. I am the current chair of the Vinton Public Library Board and have greatly enjoyed serving the community and look forward to doing more as part of the City Council.
My main goals for City Council include equity, fairness and government transparency. I want to make sure that the council implements changes and plans that benefit the most people in the community. Access to meetings is also extremely important to me. Encouraging our community to attend meetings and provide comments if they choose. I believe the current council has been making great progress in encouraging the development of attractions for families in our communities (glow trail, splash pad, renewed riverside park). It is important that the city continue to make developments like these to attract people to the community. Support of present businesses and bringing in new businesses is also important for community growth.
I am very proud to be a part of the community of Vinton and look forward to being able to serve the community if they wish to have me.
