Since the August 10, 2020 derecho disaster the Benton County Disaster Recovery Coalition has helped over 50 families and farms recover. As recovery efforts come to a close, the Coalition will continue to take applications until November 30, 2021.
Anyone needing financial assistance recovering from the disaster should contact the Coalition at phone: 319-241-5121 to request an application. The Coalition asks the public's help in letting friends and neighbors who need assistance know funding is available.
Funds are available to help any families or farm businesses who still may have expenses incurred from the derecho that are not covered by other sources, such as FEMA or insurance. There are no income guidelines for the Coalition, but need must be demonstrated.
The Benton County Disaster Recovery Coalition is a 501(c) (3) organization formed after the flood of 2008 to assist families impacted by multi-dwelling disasters. It is Benton County's long term disaster recovery organization to assist families in the county who have been impacted by disasters and have unmet needs after all other sources of funds have been exhausted. The organization works directly with Benton County Emergency Management. It operates solely on grants and private donations.
