NOTICE OF PUBLIC HEARING
Notice is hereby given that considerations of a proposed ordinance shall be held as follows:
1st consideration – September 27, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.
2nd consideration – September 28, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.
3rd consideration – October 4, 2011 at 9:30 a.m.
in the Boardroom on the second floor of the Benton County Courthouse, Vinton, Iowa.
This is a summary of the proposed ordinance:
Title: AN ORDINANCE ESTABLISHING THE COUNTY SUPERVISOR DISTRICTS AND ELECTION PRECINCTS
Purpose: The purpose of this ordinance is to establish election precincts and county supervisor districts as the result of the population changes reflected by the 2010 federal decennial census, and in accordance with Iowa Code Sections 331.210A and 49.7.
There is no penalty section set forth in the proposed ordinance.
Iowa Code Section 331.302(5) provides, "if a summary of the proposed ordinance...is published...prior to its first consideration and copies are available at the time of publication at the office of the auditor, the ordinance...shall be considered and voted on for passage at one meeting prior to the meeting at which it is to be finally passed, unless this requirement is suspended by a recorded vote of not less than a majority of the supervisors." The Board of Supervisors may suspend the requirement to hold additional considerations and adopt the ordinance in full at the first consideration.
