New law makes Iowa 38th state to regulate midwives

On June 1, Governor Kim Reynolds announced the signing of HF 265 to license certified professional midwives in Iowa. Thirty-seven other states and the District of Columbia currently regulate the practice of midwifery, making Iowa the 38th state.

The Iowa Department of Natural Resources has issued swimming warnings for three state parks in its first beach report of the year.Due to the high bacteria levels, the department does not recommend swimming in the following lakes: Union Grove State Park in Tama CountyLake Keomah State Park in Mahaska CountySouth Lake of Pine Lake State Park in Hardin County.
