November 12 event to honor and support caregivers

The Heritage Area Agency on Aging is hosting its 13th annual “Caring for the Caregiver” event on November 12, 2014 in order to support and encourage caregivers of older adults in East Central Iowa. The all-day event is free for caregivers and driven towards promoting self-care through various therapeutic activities and informational speakers. This celebration is part of National Family Caregivers Month and The Heritage Area Agency’s ongoing commitment to the caregivers of older adults and adults with disabilities.

This year, the celebration offers a restorative approach to caring for the caregiver. Participants will have a chance to rejuvenate with massage therapy offered throughout the day, indulge in a complimentary breakfast and lunch, and enjoy knowledgeable and motivational guest speakers.

Free respite care is available through Village Ridge Assisted Living and Memory Support Community. When registering for the event, please specify if you will need this service.

This event begins at 8:30 a.m. at the Kirkwood Training and Outreach Service Center (KTOS), 3375 Armar Drive, Marion. Registration is necessary; please contact Heritage at 319-398-5559 to register or to receive more information on this essential event.
