Schools/Agencies Recognize need for Stop the Bleed Training for Emergencies

Over the last several months, the Vinton-Shellsburg Community School District, Vinton Police Department, North Benton Ambulance, Benton County Public Health, and Virginia Gay Hospital have been working together to better prepare VSCSD facilities, staff and students to respond to any potentially life-threatening traumatic injury on school grounds in accordance with the national Stop the Bleed campaign.

Pool to Delay Opening until June 3

Due to extremely harsh winter weather, deep ground freeze and unseasonably cool spring temperatures, upon filling of the swimming pool for opening this season we have encountered some critical failures of vital pool parts that will force us to delay the opening of the 2019 pool season.

Vinton Food Pantry Celebrates 35 Years

The Vinton Food Pantry, a volunteer-operated project began in 1985.Jane LaGrange was one of the driving forces of the food pantry. She first became involved in 1987 when she was asked to help store food for the Benton County Food Pantry.
