The Benton County Pork Producers are proud to participate in the Pork in the Pantry program, helping fight food insecurity in the county. This year, the organization donated $1,000 worth of pork to the Shellsburg Food Pantry and the Vinton Food Pantry, ensuring that families in need have access to high quality, nutritious protein.

House votes to ban eminent domain for CO2 pipelines

By Kami CoonsThe Iowa House approved a bill Wednesday that would stop pipelines carrying liquified carbon dioxide from using eminent domain. Six other bills related to carbon sequestration pipelines, eminent domain and the Iowa Utilities Commission were combined into one bill, which also advanced.
