Rick Primmer of VInton went shopping for pink plug wires for his car.

Jim McClaughlin of Toddville went with his wife, Laura, to Bowling Green, Ky., to watch GM workers assemble his white 2011 Corvette Grand Sport soft-top.

Howie Wyldes brought his 1957 Chevy, which has been in his family for decades. Many others brought cars they have purchased in the past few years.

Hundreds of spectators walked among cars with crank starters parked next to models nearly one century newer.

For several city blocks, car lovers and car owners discussed the history of vehicles, and the effort and cost of restoring them.

This happens every year, and 2013 brought great weather and hundreds of cars from all over eastern Iowa and beyond to Vinton.

Convertibles, street rods, low-riders, antiques and pick-ups of all sizes, colors and levels of modification were on display for a few hours, before the owners drove them around Vinton, as local residents filled downtown and many yards with lawn chairs, or sat on cars or in the back of pick-ups to watch the cruise.
